The Green Energy Cooperative (ZEZ) was established as part of the Development of Energy Cooperatives in Croatia Programme; however, it has existed independently since the project’s completion. Now it aims to involve citizens in the energy transition process, to encourage entrepreneurship in the energy sector, to empower citizens through the use of RES, and to promote autonomous energy production. The Cooperative is also focused on the development of local communities and the protection of the environment. Across Europe, Students Achieving Valuable Energy Savings (SAVES 2) supports students to minimise their carbon footprint in their university and private accommodation, raising awareness about energy efficiency and smart metering and instigating good sustainability habits which last beyond the time they spend in education. The 50/50 project aims to raise awareness among students in four Bulgarian schools (two in Sofia and two in Samokov) about the importance of energy efficiency and to encourage them to save energy in their schools. This aim was achieved by establishing energy teams of students under the mentorship of several teachers in the four pilot schools.
