The citizens of Šabac, with help from various organizations, have set up Serbia’s first energy cooperative, which will involve the installation of photovoltaic power plants on the rooftops of residential buildings, along with other energy efficiency measures. The aim is to reduce both the cost of energy and the emission of greenhouse gases in the city. Although the first goal was to install a photovoltaic power plant in the Public Utility Company’s administrative building, the cooperative will be available to everyone in the city, regardless of their location.
