Lohøgda Housing Cooperative (with approximately 780 flats) in Oslo successfully implemented energy-saving measures (for example, insulation, the use of geothermal energy) and is planning to achieve energy self-sufficiency (for instance, through solar energy and window and door replacement) as a community. Even though the primary motivation was economic (that is, saving on energy costs), consideration of the climate and the environment was deemed important as well.
