In 2018, the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure issued new regulation on self-sufficiency in electricity from renewable energy sources, which enabled private consumers in multiresidental buildings to take part in the green transformation and start producing their own electricity. In February 2019, the first solar power plant on a multi-apartment building in Slovenia was built in Jesenice town. One hundred and twenty-nine solar panels were installed on the roof of the building with 23 apartments. They produce 37,000-kilowatt hours of green electricity annually, which fully covers the needs of the residents.
